An in-depth look at the flushing process of Surgical Power Tool Systems

As a manufacturer of surgical power tools, we can sometimes attribute the reason why users are harsh about washing to the fact that they are high-performance devices by design.  However, in order for cutting, reaming and drilling equipment to do their part, they need to be supported by their users. In this article, you can find out how you can support your surgical Power tool systems.

Due to their design, surgical Power tool systems are sensitive devices that are affected by liquids with high pH levels and cannot perform with unauthorized use. Due to their design, no matter how harsh the area of use, they are devices that need to be approached meticulously and kindly in terms of washing.

Medical device washing machines used in hospitals are produced and controlled according to TS EN ISO 15883-1/2012-6 standard.

According to clauses 4.4.1, 4.4.2 and 4.4.3 of this standard;
  • It has a washing stage that reduces the concentration of chemical cleaning agents on the load to a level that does not exceed the level specified by the manufacturer or supplier as safe for the intended use of the load, (i.e. using the machine in accordance with the chemical and ph level recommended by the washing machine manufacturer)
  • – Providing rinsing by determining the decrease in chemical cleaning agent concentration and showing that the load is sufficient for the intended use, (The rinsing process is completed not only by flowing water over the devices, but also by evaluating the water accumulated in the boiler in terms of pH to control the machine and bringing the result to the expected level.

  • Providing the means to ensure that the chemical and microbial quality of the final rinse water does not impair the cleaning and disinfection standard (The means mentioned in this article; neutral pH detergents with or without enzymes can be considered as cleaning agents and you can visit the following link for detailed information

The valid data obtained as a result of the controls of the washing machines used according to TS EN ISO 15883-1/2012-6 standard not only ensures the performance safety of the device, but also serves patient safety as the patient will be prevented from being exposed to unwanted chemicals during the operation.

The first place to look in the user manuals of surgical power tools are the cleaning and sterilization section. It must be ensured that a medical device, which must be washed and sterilized before use, is prepared under the correct actions and valid conditions in order to operate in the operating room.

Surgical power toolf systems derive the power of all the functions they perform from a highly sensitive electronic card. The precision shown during cleaning returns as performance during use. Accordingly; paying attention to cleaning as much as the performance you want to get will bring you the result you expect.
